CI i mbi ng roses are no
more difficult to care for
thanotherroses.
» SUPPORTS Climbing
roses need to be tied to a
trellis, pergola, or any
other structure with
twine. Pick a location that
receives at least a half
day of sun—a full day is
even better.
• PRUNING After the
rains, remove dead or
damaged branches, and
those that grow in a
direction that makes it
difficult to tie them to
the structure.
• AIR THE SOIL After
the rains, dig up the soil
around the roses and let
it dry for a fortnight
before pushing it back in
or adding manure.
• REGULAR CARE
For vigorous, heavy-
blooming roses, fertilize
regularly. If using a
chemical fertilizer
specifically for roses, mix
it with cow dung manure.
Remove spent flowers,
and water as needed to
keep soil moist
